Magnetic polishes are a big thing now, and KB Shimmer put out a whole collection! I bought 3 of them. I really like KB Shimmer polishes, they were one of my first indie polish brands.
This is Orbits and Pieces. The magnetic effect was easy to get. I did buy their magnet with a handle, and that was easy to use.
This is 3 coats, I did 1 thin base coat, then a thicker coat and magnetized it while wet, then another thicker coat that I magnetized while wet. Then a coat of Seche Vite, and the magnet again, as the top coat can diffuse the magnetized effect. Make sure you do one nail at a time, if the polish dries you won't get the magnetic effect.
You can see the pretty diffused effect, I'm pretty sure that's because I did 2 coats of polish, and then the top coat.
I love the dark background with the purple effect.
This was my second time trying a magnetic polish, the first was Tonic Happenstance. I'm not getting super crisp magnetic lines, mine are diffused, but I love the effect! I did buy an arc magnet on eBay, so we'll see what look that magnet gets me!
Here's a close up, and in this shot you can kind of see the greenish shift this polish has at extreme angles.
A hint I found with the magnets, if you don't have one with a handle, I bought one of those kneadable art erasers, and stuck the magnet in that to use. Then I stuck it to my light, so that all I had to do was hold my finger under the magnet (eliminating one set of hands that might shake holding the magnet, lol!).

Try Another Thursday- Ethereal Lacquer Twilight Garrison
I saw some pictures of Ethereal Polishes, and joined her Facebook group, Ethereal Lacquer Lovers. There was a prototype sale, and I picked up 7 of them, and this was one of them.
This is my very first Ethereal Lacquer! Twilight Garrison. It's a grayed out purple with a subtle holo.
It was good in 2 coats, maybe a smidge on the thick side formula wise, but nothing I even felt like I needed to thin.
This polish is a nice subtle polish. I like it a lot, and it was a great introduction to a new brand!
Here is a close up. It is subtle, but so pretty and delicate.

Try Another Thursday- Jior Couture D'oh Nut
So I'm starting Try Another Thursday, so I can post 2 + untrieds in a week (I know I can post whatever I want, whenever I want, it's my blog, but this will keep it neat!).
This is Jior Couture D'oh Nut- from the May Polish Pickup. The theme was The 90s, and this polish was inspired by The Simpsons Lard Lad pink sprinkle donut. Confession- I have never ever watched an episode of The Simpsons, nor do I like donuts all that much, but I do love this polish!!
It's a clear (warm) to pink (cold) thermal with holo and flakies in it. 3 of my favorite things (pink, holo, flakies in case you're keeping track).
Here is another picture- I wasn't forcing this transition at all.

This is up close and look at those flakies! Even though the warm state is clear, it's not really clear because it's packed with flakies. This was kind of when it was transitioning and it was in a kind of pinky nude color.
Here's another picture. Also, one thing I've found with thermals for me personally, is that they don't transition well for me (even forcing it with cold/hot water) until the next day, and then they transition really well. This was just like that- and even though it was super hot here when I wore it (like 90 + degrees!) it still transitioned well with air conditioning, lol.
So a win from Jior Couture! I will definitely try more from this brand. Polish Pickup happens every month (though they're taking July 2018 off), and you can buy cool polishes from lots of indie makers that are centered around a particular theme (like this one is from the 90s theme). This is just another reason why I really like Polish Pickup- it gives me a chance to try new brands without a big shipping investment.
Live your life with love in your hearts and glitter on your nails!
