Try it Tuesday- Colors by Llarowe Marilyn the Legend

This was a Polish Pickup polish from August 2017, the theme was Old Hollywood, and of course the inspiration was Marilyn Monroe.

This was a fine polish, but really nothing super special, if I'm honest. It's a pretty pink holographic polish. It was good in 2 coats.

I do love Marilyn Monroe, and I do love a good pink polish, and this was a good pink polish. Not too crazy, but good holo and a pretty color.

This is in the sun where it shows more pink. I didn't catch the holo, though.

Live your life with love in your hearts and glitter on your nails!

Try Another Thursday- Jior Couture D'oh Nut

So I'm starting Try Another Thursday, so I can post 2 + untrieds in a week (I know I can post whatever I want, whenever I want, it's my blog, but this will keep it neat!).

This is Jior Couture D'oh Nut- from the May Polish Pickup. The theme was The 90s, and this polish was inspired by The Simpsons Lard Lad pink sprinkle donut. Confession- I have never ever watched an episode of The Simpsons, nor do I like donuts all that much, but I do love this polish!!

It's a clear (warm) to pink (cold) thermal with holo and flakies in it. 3 of my favorite things (pink, holo, flakies in case you're keeping track).

Here is another picture- I wasn't forcing this transition at all.

This is up close and look at those flakies! Even though the warm state is clear, it's not really clear because it's packed with flakies. This was kind of when it was transitioning and it was in a  kind of pinky nude color.

Here's another picture. Also, one thing I've found with thermals for me personally, is that they don't transition well for me (even forcing it with cold/hot water) until the next day, and then they transition really well. This was just like that- and even though it was super hot here when I wore it (like 90 + degrees!) it still transitioned well with air conditioning, lol.

So a win from Jior Couture! I will definitely try more from this brand. Polish Pickup happens every month (though they're taking July 2018 off), and you can buy cool polishes from lots of indie makers that are centered around a particular theme (like this one is from the 90s theme).  This is just another reason why I really like Polish Pickup- it gives me a chance to try new brands without a big shipping investment.

Live your life with love in your hearts and glitter on your nails!

Nail Mail - April Polish Pickup

So for April's Polish Pickup I went a ~leeeeetle bit~ crazy. I placed 3 orders, because I talked myself into more things (like that was hard, lol).

The theme for April was Space, and there were some cool polishes to be had!

Here are the polishes I got

L-r Illyrian War Stars, KB Shimmer Hubbled Together, Necessary Evil I am Starstuff, Polished for Days Solar Flare, Emily de Molly Created by Man, Quixotic Polish To the Moon and Back, and Vibrant Vinyls Galactic Unicorn Fast Dry top coat (not pictured).

I also got Lilly Anne's Garden lotion, it's super thick, and I really like it!

So far the only thing I've tried besides the lotion is the top coat from Vibrant Vinyls- I liked it just fine. I will say, that the scent stays with you for days (and unfortunately I don't love the scent of this, but I don't hate it, either).

I also gave DS10 the Use the Force Sphere I got from Turtle Tootsie- it is a soap ball with a little Star Wars figurine inside. I don't have a picture of it as he's already using it! Anything to get him to use actual soap in the shower!

If you don't know what Polish Pickup is, you should stop reading right now because it is amazing and you will need ALL THE POLISH! And you will have NONE OF THE MONIES! LOL

Basically, the first weekend of every month (though they're taking July off), lots of indie polish makers (like 50+????) make amazing polishes and other things (hand care, jewelry, in April there was even an eye shadow and colored lip balm) based around a theme. You buy them from the website, shipping in the US is $3, and if you make multiple orders, they refund the additional shipping (meaning, no matter how many orders you place, you only pay $3 shipping!)

June's theme is Video Games, and you can be sure there are a ton of cool polishes (there always are!). This is the Facebook group, too, Polish Pickup Pack where you can see all the sneak peeks and blogger info.

Live your life with love in your hearts and glitter on your nails!

Try it Tuesday- Delush Polish Sting or be Stung (March 2018 Polish Pickup)

This polish was from the March Polish Pickup, based on the book The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's a black jelly polish with flakies and red and silver holo.

This is a pretty polish, but not ~exactly~ what my elusive perfect black jelly flakie polish should be. But it's still a great polish. I did 3 coats just for depth of the flakies.

It wasn't too thick, it went on easily.

Here's a macro to try to show the flakies more.

I love black polishes of all kinds, so, though not perfect, it's pretty darn awesome!

If you haven't heard of Polish Pickup, and your an indie polish fan, check it out! The Facebook group is Polish Pickup Pack. Every month there's a theme, and there are tons of indie polish makers who make a polish (or other things- lotions, squishies, jewelry, and more!) around that specific theme. The shop is open the first weekend of every month, and that is the only time you can buy the polishes. They ship within 2-3 weeks after the sale, and it's such a fun package to get!!

Live your life with live in your hearts and glitter on your nails!

Polish Pickup March 2018

Yay! My Polish Pickup order shipped super quickly!!  This was my biggest order- but the theme was books, so all is forgiven!!

Behind is WiTS lotion by Heather's Hues and the clear jelly stamper by Lantern and Wren.
Polish- Pug Posse Bush Magic, Heather's Hues The Deepest Kind of Love, Polished for Days From the Land of Oz, Delush Polish Sting or Be Stung, and Sweet Heart Polish I Know You're Not Thirsty. In front is a cuticle oil from Dollish Polish.

This order is full of firsts- my first Pug Posse, Heather's Hues Delush, Sweet Heart polishes, and my first anything from Dollish Polish.

The only one that is from a book I absolutely love is the Polished for Days- I read all the Oz books by L. Frank Baum- Wizard of Oz, Ozma of Oz, Queen Zixi of Ix, all of those. The Heather's Hues is based off of Where the Red Fern Grows, and I LOVE the movie, lol, but never read the book.  Oh, and I guess Dusty Coffin is from the book Interview with a Vampire, which I think I read back in the day, lol.

Live your life with love in your hearts and glitter on your nails!

Nail Mail February Polish Pickup- Sweets and Treats

The February theme for Polish Pickup was Sweets and Treats. I don't know how I did it, but somehow I kept it to 2 bottles and a lip balm.

If you haven't checked out Polish Pickup yet, let me enable you. It's a TON of indie makers who make polishes and other things (wax, lip balm, etc.) around a single theme each month (like February was Sweets and Treats).  The online shop is open the first weekend of every month, from Friday at 11 am EST to some time the following Monday. Then they're gone forever. And even better, shipping is only $3- even if you make multiple orders (the shipping is charged on the subsequent orders, but then refunded as they start shipping orders out).

I have gotten to try new brands, and fall in love with new polishes!

Look how beautiful!

First, the lip balm from Contrary. You can't tell from this picture, but it's a berry tint, and tastes like Gummy Bears!!!  The color is gorgeous, deep but sheer, and it tastes so good!  The Supernatural Lacquer on the right is called Dark Hearts, after the Cadbury dark hearts. I love Supernatural polishes, and she does purples sooooo well!

And the Girly Bits!!!! OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!! This was called "I Licked it, so it's Mine," based on Unicorn Bark, which looks like one piece would rot your teeth right out of your head, lol. But even if it weren't an amazingly gorgeous polish, I almost had to have it because of the name!

My dilemma with this order is that I IMMEDIATELY wanted to put on the Girly Bits polish and never, ever take it off. However, my rule for last year and this year is to wear all untried polish. And I think this would be the perfect polish for my vacation in July, because it's gorgeous, and being a glitter would probably wear really really well. So I'm trying to hold out to wear it in a few months, and believe me, you'll see it!!

Also, spoiler alert, I went crazy for Polish Pickup in March, so there's that....lol.

Try it Tuesday- Blush Lacquer Not Your Average Seahorse

This is a standout polish from October 2017 Polish Pickup. The theme for that month was Monsters & Mythical Creatures. This polish is called Not Your Average Seahorse by Blush Lacquers. This was the inspiration picture.

This is the polish.  Of course, it's way more gorgeous in real life!

This is the polish in sunlight- you can see the grey/blue base- in some pictures it looks almost black, but it's not a black base.

This picture to the right was taken under my daylight bulbs.

Here's a macro so you can see all the beautiful goodness in this polish!

I know that people who missed out on this polish are hunting it down, because it's a beaut!  I really enjoy the Blush Lacquers formula, and the brush is one of those wide brushes curved at the bottom, I do like that too!

For those who don't know what Polish Pickup is, it's a website where once a month (the first weekend of every month, Friday at 11 am through Monday at I'm not sure what time, lol) you can buy polish from different makers- centered around a particular theme. Like the theme for this polish was Monsters & Mythical Creatures (October 2017). There is a Facebook page, too, Polish Pickup Pack, you can join. I love it because these makers are so creative, they do amazing polishes, and every order is shipped for $3 in the US and $5 in Canada- even for multiple orders. So if you order on Friday, you are charged $3 shipping. Then you decide you MUST have more polish, and you order on Sunday, you'll be charged $3 shipping, but they'll refund that shipping once they start shipping and combine multiple orders.

Phew! It's awesome, trust me, LOL.

Try it Tuesday- Night Owl Lacquer She Believed She Could, so She Did- December Polish Pickup

I LOVE THIS POLISH!! Sorry for yelling. I really love this polish.

This is the first thing I've gotten from Night Owl Lacquer. I got this in the December Polish Pickup. Here is the link to the Polish Pickup Pack FB group.

It's a thermal, and it goes from a bright purple (cold) to pink (warm).

It's super cold here in North Carolina- I'm writing this on Monday, 1/15/18, and it's forecast to snow
on Wednesday. So cold, especially for the South! So I had to dip my hands in warm water to get it to shift, but it was very quick to shift (yes, my hands and bottle are wet in the picture above, I had to move fast!!!).

Pink and purple are my favorite colors- my room as a kid was pink, and my dad let me paint a bookshelf purple, lol.

This also has flakies and glitter in it- in fact, it was almost chunky. I did 2 coats of top coat, and it smoothed right out. You can really see in the macro the flakies and glitter shreds.

This went on my top Indies of 2018 right away. I can't stop looking at my hands, and showing off this polish to all my coworkers!

SPAMALAMA 2017! Girly Bits Festival of Lights 2017

This is from Dec Polish Pickup- Holidays Around the World. It's a gold base with tons of multicolor flakies. It's the first polish I have tried from Girly Bits (though not the first I've owned, lol), and if this polish is any indication, it won't be my last!

It was super easy to work with, 2 easy coats for opacity. The flakies laid down nicely.

Again, this is the color of polish that I know doesn't look the best against my skin tone, but I love them and buy them anyways!! LOL.

2017 SPAMALAMA!! Supernatural Lacquer Como se Llamacorn?

Ooooh, I love this polish! It's one of my top 10 for 2017, for sure.  This was from Polish Pickup in October.

This is a super wonderful polish, I mean, it's a blurple (more blue than purple), with those flakies that
I love love love. It was easy to apply, opaque in 2 coats.

I really really like Supernatural Lacquer, I am always impressed with every polish of hers I tried.

Polish Pickup November 2017- Fandoms!

Here is my Polish Pickup haul from November 2017. I got 3 polishes and 3 sets of lip balms (I only show one set in my picture).

This was a fun month- though I ended up buying polishes for the color, not for the fandoms I like.  I got....

L-r Harry Potter lip balms (Lemon Drops, Chocolate Frog and Butterscotch Beer), Contrary Polish The Juice Fiend, Lollipop Posse Spirit of the Kohaku River, and Baroness X Menage a Trois.

The fandom for the lip balms is obviously Harry Potter, the one for Contrary Polish was Arrested Development, Lollipop Posse's fandom was Spirited Away, and Baroness X is Star Trek.  And can you see the charm? Inspired by Harry Potter Sign of the Deathly Hallows. The first 100 get a charm free.

I have never seen Arrested Development or Spirited Away, and I have seen Star Trek, but I'm definitely not a Trekkie!

Here is the trailer for Spirited Away- apparently this is the most successful film in Japanese history, and won an Oscar for best animated film.

They had a Sherlock fandom polish (and I am a total Cumberbitch) but it wasn't unique enough. I like Spongebob, but didn't love the polish inspired by it. I really wanted to buy polish that was unique and that I loved.

Polish Pickup is so fun- both Contrary Polish and Baroness X are new brands for me, and I'm excited to try them!

Try it Tuesday- Crowstoes ...need a light?

This is a polish from the October Polish Pickup. The theme was Monsters and Mythical Creatures. They used Godzilla as their inspiration- this picture isn't the exact picture that was used as inspiration, but it's similar. It shows the blue flame!

This is such a beautiful blue! It really glows in some lights. It was 3 coats to get opaque, but they were easy coats.  Those silver flakies do stick to the skin a little bit!

This was under a daylight bulb.

These pictures were in the sun.
This was in the car- I love how it glows in this picture.

Here is a macro, you can see all the flakies in the polish!

Nail Mail- Polish Pickup August and September 2017

So Polish Pickup is a new thing for me- I just found it on Facebook, though you don't need to be on Facebook, it's just a website you can order from. It's the first full weekend of every month (so for October it's Friday, October 6 through Monday, October 9- and the dates are listed on the website).

Each month they have a theme, for August it was Old Hollywood, and for September it was Fall Foliage and Fun.

In August I got (l-r) Frankly, My Dear (by Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish, a new brand to me), Marilyn the Legend (By Colors by Llarowe, another new to me brand), Supermoon Lacquer's A Boy's Best Friend, and Blush Lacquer's Hop on the Bandwagon

Then in September I got Fair Maiden Fall-ing Stars, Le Polish What's Up, Bog (a new brand for me), and Supermoon Lacquer's Purple Ghost

Polish Pickup is super fun, you do see a bunch of swatches before the sale, and I love trying new to me brands! And shipping is only $3 no matter how many polishes you buy- even if you do more than one order, they combine orders and shipping is still $3!

Live your life with love in your hearts and glitter on your nails!

Try it Tuesday- Pahlish Bespoke Batch White Hot

I was enticed by Pahlish's Bespoke Batch polish, White Hot. I knew it wouldn't look good on me, white polishes don't, but I lov...
