2017 SPAMALAMA!!! Native War Paints I'm Dating a Daredevil

This is Native War Paints I'm Dating a Daredevil. This polish.....oh, this polish! This is the second time I tried it. The first time it was goopy and stringy and weird- almost lumpy? I added a TON of thinner to it, and then I saw the brush was defective, too. I emailed customer service at Native War Paints, and they immediately sent me another brush, so that was good.

I waited a couple months, then added some more thinner and started again using the new brush- and it was ok. Not great, but OK.  I did have to manipulate the polish, but the thinner helped, it wasn't weird and stringy.  This was 3 coats (I think- at least 2).

I am not a purging girl, but if I were (and someday I might be), this would go right into the purge pile. I shouldn't have to work this hard for a nail polish! The color is beautiful, but I'm sure there are other things similar with better formulas.

I do give props to their customer service for sending me the brush quickly, and I have tried a bunch of others (specifically from their Labyrinth collection) that I LOVE, and I did get a few for Black Friday, so it's not like I hate the brand.

Native War Paints Labyrinth Collection (some of them!)

So Native War Paints put out a Labyrinth collection last year (2016), and I completely fell in love with some of them. I purchased You Have No Power Over Me, Bog of Eternal Stench, Chilly Down with the Fire gang and  Dance Magic - Dance Magic is more Purple.

Chilly Down with the Fire Gang is more pink

Bog of Eternal Stench is a yellowy gold

You Have No Power Over Me is a silvery ethereal color- I thought I had a picture, but I can't find it! So here is a picture from Kellie Gonzo (I wish she were still blogging!!) that shows what a gorgeous polish this one is!

All applied seamlessly, with 2-3 coats to opacity and no formula issues. I usually wait until Native War Paints has some sort of deal going, as I feel like their shipping is high compared to other makers. I also bought a few of their minis, and have noticed some UBS (ugly bottle syndrome, that usually doesn't affect application) with those, but I have not worn them yet. I bought those back when I thought minis might be the way to go, but I have found I don't love minis, but still will try them some time!!

I think that only Chilly Down with the Fire Gang and Dance Magic are available in the discontinued section of their website.

There has been some drama with the brand- the name offends some (I think I heard that the owner has some Native American blood? Or something?). Anyway, that doesn't offend me. The other issue is with the polishes themselves, they can have some big lumps of unmixed pigments. So far the ones I have tried have been fine!

Try it Tuesday- Pahlish Bespoke Batch White Hot

I was enticed by Pahlish's Bespoke Batch polish, White Hot. I knew it wouldn't look good on me, white polishes don't, but I lov...
